CNP Therapeutic's Complex Neural Pulse is an example of a group of technologies that employ neuromodulation, which involves the therapeutic alteration of neurological activity. Neuromodulation devices use either electric current or changing electromagnetic fields that transmit energy to the tissue producing a therapeutic effect.
The OPERA™ device – the means by which CNP® is delivered – consists of a portable control module (Central Generating Unit or CGU) and a headset similar in appearance to audio headphones.

The device is designed for use in the home. The headset is placed above the ears and worn for 40 minutes, twice daily (for chronic pain). Users can participate in activities such as reading or watching television during use.
Specific, low-power, electromagnetic pulses (CNP®) are used to interact with key neuronal structures in the brain to reduce the pain symptoms of the condition.

The theory of operation involves the modulation of key areas of the brain — it acts centrally where the pain is perceived in the brain, not in the periphery (for example, at a joint or muscle). |

The pulseforms used are complex and specifically designed for each condition — they don’t just flood the channel in an attempt to block the signal. |

CNP® does not require surgery or implants; the technology is |

Magnetic field strength from the pulseform is less than applicable industry limits for electric hair dryers. |
