The OPERA™ Device is designed for in-home use and can be utilized during activities such as reading or watching television. For chronic pain, patients use the OPERA™ Device by placing the headset coils above their ears for 40 minutes, twice daily (for chronic pain). The OPERA™ Device is activated by simply pushing the “ON” button — there are no other patient controls.

System components:
The OPERA™ CGU Device, weighing about 650 grams, consists of a Central Generating Unit, or “CGU” (370 grams), and a headset (280 grams). The Central Generating Unit (CGU) has a simple interface with an “ON” button and indicator lights. The device is powered by a rechargeable battery, and has an auto shut-off feature (once a therapy session is started, it continues until the entire prescribed dose is delivered and then shuts itself off). The CGU generates the pulseforms and delivers them through a cable to the headset.
The headset looks similar an elongated audio headset, however, it is not placed on the ears, rather, it fits comfortably centered above the ears.
A handheld device called the Prescriber is used by the physician to connect to the CGU to specify the dosing regimen for the patient (frequency of therapy sessions and therapy duration), enabling the use of a prescription model for therapy provision.
